LinkedIn Insight Tag

Updated November 4, 2026 · Markitech team

Definition

The LinkedIn Insight Tag is a JavaScript tag that enables website conversion tracking, retargeting audiences and website demographics for LinkedIn Ads.

In practice

It is installed on every page, often through Google Tag Manager, and conversions are defined in Campaign Manager on the events or pages that matter.

Pairing the Insight Tag with the LinkedIn Conversions API, using a shared event ID, recovers conversions lost in the browser and allows CRM stages to be sent server-side.

Typical problems are duplicate installs, conversions tied to pages users can reach without converting, and consent rules that block the tag everywhere.
