LinkedIn Insight Tag setup, verified end to end
Install the tag through Tag Manager, attach conversions to the right events and confirm LinkedIn is actually receiving them.
Updated November 4, 2026 · Markitech team
The LinkedIn Insight Tag powers website conversion tracking, retargeting audiences and demographic reporting. It is simple to install and easy to get subtly wrong: conversions attached to the wrong URL, a tag that never fires after consent, or duplicates from a second copy hard-coded into the site.
Markitech reads your Tag Manager container and loads your pages in a real browser to see whether the Insight Tag fires where conversions are defined, then proposes fixes as a Tag Manager change you approve.
How to do it
- Find your LinkedIn partner ID in Campaign Manager.
- Add the Insight Tag to Google Tag Manager on all pages, with consent rules where required.
- Define conversions on the event that matters, such as a form submission or demo booking, not a generic page view.
- Publish the Tag Manager change after reviewing the diff.
- Confirm the tag status and conversion activity in Campaign Manager.
Common mistakes
- Installing the tag twice, once in GTM and once in the site code.
- Tracking a thank-you URL that users can reach without converting.
- Blocking the tag for everyone instead of only where consent is missing.
- Never checking that conversions are actually recorded after a site release.

Do I need Tag Manager for the Insight Tag?

Will Markitech publish tag changes on its own?
No. Every Tag Manager publish is shown as a diff and held for your approval.
