Smart bidding, set up to learn the right thing
Pick the right strategy, point it at the right conversions, and set targets from real data.
Updated November 4, 2026 · Markitech team
Smart bidding is only as good as the conversion data it learns from. A campaign optimizing toward a broken or low-value action will efficiently buy the wrong results.
Markitech checks your measurement first: it loads your pages in a real browser to see whether conversion tags fire, and checks that GA4 receives the events. Then it recommends a strategy and starting targets from your campaign CPA. You make the bidding change in Google Ads.
How to do it
- Audit conversion actions and which are primary.
- Confirm enhanced conversions and tracking health.
- Choose Maximize Conversions, Target CPA or Target ROAS by goal and data volume.
- Set initial targets from trailing performance.
- Allow a learning period before judging.
- Adjust targets gradually based on results.
Common mistakes
- Setting targets far below historical CPA.
- Changing targets daily during learning.
- Mixing lead and purchase goals in one strategy.
- Using bidding to fix a tracking problem.
